Feeling Out of Sync? Learn to Discover Your Nervous System’s Natural Rhythm
It happened on the ice.
One winter evening at my daughter’s school holiday party, I was skating when a child crashed into me and took me out at the knees. The pain was instant but the scream that erupted wasn’t just physical. It was trauma. Unprocessed, buried, and now exploding out of me in a split second.
That fall sent me to the ICU. It led to brain surgery. Recovery was long, disorienting, and invisible. On the outside, I looked fine. But inside? I was drowning. I couldn’t explain what was happening I didn’t have the words. But now I do: my nervous system was stuck in survival mode.
The Fall Was Only the Beginning
At the time, I was a young mother of two, running my own business, juggling two part‑time jobs, school runs, dinner prep, and the constant weight of “doing.” My life was fast, productive, and, in hindsight, completely disconnected.
I went through the motions of healing the traditional way: neurologists, rehab, therapists. But nothing touched the inner chaos. The hollowness. I was ungrounded. Anxious. Uninspired. It felt like I was living from the neck up thinking, solving, analyzing but never feeling.
Until one quiet moment changed everything.
A Whisper in Stillness
In a therapeutic yoga training, I bent into a simple forward fold. I paused. I breathed. And in that stillness, I heard a whisper from within:
“You’re not alone.”
Tears welled up. My body softened. Something melted inside me the hardness I had built to survive. In that moment, I realized: healing wasn’t about doing more, fixing myself, or explaining my pain. It was about feeling, listening, and trusting my body’s intelligence.
That whisper became a turning point. I made a new commitment not to be better or stronger, but to wake up each day more me. Less proving, more presence. Less perfection, more permission.
The Wisdom of the Body and the Sound It Holds
For the next 15 years, I immersed myself in the world of somatic healing. I became a therapeutic yoga teacher, somatic coach, meditation guide, and resilience mentor. I studied fascia, the nervous system, hypnagogic states, NLP, and the koshas. I worked with high achievers and sensitive leaders. And I listened. Closely.
Still, something gently nudged me forward an invitation to explore another dimension of healing. That’s when I discovered sound healing through Finely Tuned, a training with Dr. John Beaulieu.
Rather than being the missing “final 5%,” sound became an entry point to deeper awareness a frequency doorway that both complements and amplifies the inner work I was already doing. It supported the breakthroughs that Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) ignited. It didn’t replace that work it resonated with it.
When I sat with tuning forks or bathed in vibration, it was as if my body whispered back:
“Yes. This path is right. This is safe. You’re supported.”
Sound became a way to embody trust, to smooth and regulate the nervous system, and to affirm that healing wasn’t just mental or emotional it was energetic, vibrational, and deeply physical.
The Science of Being In Tune
Let’s get a bit more specific.
The vagus nerve, a powerful cranial nerve, connects brain, heart, lungs, gut even the face and sex organs. It’s the master regulator of the parasympathetic nervous system your rest‑and‑restore mode.
When your vagal tone is strong, you feel safe, centered, and resilient. When it’s weak, stress dominates. Trauma tightens the body, shortens breath, and disconnects internal harmony.
Sound healing especially using tuning forks and vibrational instruments stimulates the vagus nerve and brings your system back into coherence. It’s not woo. It’s rhythm.
And your body loves rhythm.
Through sound, I could feel my nervous system reset. A deep aliveness returned not just through silence, but vibration.
From Tension to Tuning Forks
I began to integrate sound healing into my daily life.
Just 5 minutes with tuning forks. Gentle humming. Conscious listening. Pausing to sense vibration not thought. This was no longer “self‑care.” It was re‑patterning my entire way of being.
I realized I’d been holding emotional weight for everyone always doing, fixing, proving. RTT gave me language. Sound gave me access. Together, they unlocked what talk therapy couldn’t touch.
How You Can Tune Yourself
Tuning doesn’t mean perfection. It means presence.
When you’re out of tune, you may feel:
Overwhelmed, anxious, frozen, scattered
Tight in your chest or belly
Like your mind spins but resolves nothing
When you’re in tune:
Breath deepens
Thoughts soften
You feel intuitive, relaxed, and alive
Simple ways to tune yourself today:
Hum for 2 minutes
Vibration stimulates your vagus nerve and relaxes your brain.Use a tuning fork or sound bowl
Place near your chest or third eye. Let the sound wash over you.Try conscious listening
Sit still. Close your eyes. Listen to every subtle sound in your space.Ask your body, not your mind
Before making a decision, pause and ask: “What do I feel in my body?”
